Power Cutter
Description
Power Cutters are designed to sever a wide range of tubing or casing quickly and efficiently, using a minimum amount of explosives. The cutters offer high levels of safety and reliability with a minimum amount of set-up or configuration work based on well configuration.
Power Cutters work on the same principle as a shaped charge for perforating. The major difference is that power cutter is a circumferential device, generating a “disc” metallic jet. The cutters will, under ideal conditions, produce smooth-cuts with some degree of flaring at the cut.
Power Cutter tool can be conveyed and initiated by wireline or e-slickline. And it does not need any anchor tools in operation.

Non-explosive thermal cutter technology
Product Overview
Non-explosive thermal cutter is a cutter product used for tubing, casing and drill pipe. It is specially designed to cut small diameter pipe strings with standard wall thickness, including conventional stainless steel, and high chromium and alloy material strings. After cutting, the cut has no expansion and flange.
Technical Principles
Non-explosive thermal cutter utilizes unique metal powder mixtures rather than high-energy explosives or hazardous chemicals. Severe chemical heat-producing reactions are produced after the metal powder mixtures are ignited by a special igniter. Molten plasma is sprayed through mechanical nozzle to the target string for continuous scouring and ablation at the burning temperature higher than 3000℃, thus cutting the target metal pipe string.
Technical Features
It is not explosive product. No license is required for transportation and storage.No explosion occurs during cutting and any toxic and harmful gas will not be generated.
The cut is neat without expansion, flange and falling object into well. Subsequent operations are simple. Catch milling is not necessary.
The tool string is smaller than other cutting tools and can pass through small holes to cut pipe strings.
After cutting, the casing close to the cut pipe string will not be damaged.
Construction Technology
The non-explosive thermal cutter can be placed to the pre-cutting position of target pipe string through cable. In the process of ignition and cutting, the special mechanical anchor will fix the whole tool string to ensure an ideal cutting effect.
The non-explosive thermal cutter can be placed to the specified depth of well along a cable. After being powered on, the ground controller will control the three anchor blades of the mechanical anchor at the top of the cutting tool to grasp the inner wall and avoid the whole pipe string moving up and down. Then turn on the special ignition switch to start the special igniter to trigger the chemical reaction of metal powder mixtures. Then heats are produced and the target pipe string is cut. At last, inverse power-on is performed using the electric control switch. The mechanical anchor will be unlocked and retracted. Lift the cable and the cutter pipe string will be safely recovered and lifted to the ground for inspection.
